The Sheldon Flock

The Sheldon Flock of Manx Loghtan Sheep

This is a small hobby flock of pedigree rare breed sheep at a retreat centre on the edge of Dartmoor. I keep Manx because they are hardy, thrifty, easy to look after and excellent mothers. The fleeces are perfect for hand spinning, and the sheep have lots of character (they also taste wonderful).

Above is Ted, a shearling ewe, one of a starter group of eight Greyface Datrmoors to go with the Manx. The ram, called Herbie, is enormous and thankfully extremely placid (in fact dopey might be a better word).  He is in with the Manx ram lambs for the time being, looking like the Titanic attended by a flotilla of rowing boats.
