RBST Devon AGM January 2010 at the Cowick Barton - 26th January
Feature Speaker Graham Harvey

After a quick AGM we had a very good interactive talk with Graham. Graham Harvey is the agricultural story editor for the Radio 4 serial ‘The Archers’ and the author of books including The Killing of the Countryside and The Carbon Fields. You can also see articles from him in Farmers Weekly and on many TV programs.

He is very much into the use of properly managed grass to feed our cattle, sequester carbon, retain moisture (and thereby stop flooding) and help toward saving the planet. He believes that small, mixed farms could climate-proof our food supply. He is very practical and passionate about us using grass properly to re-create sustainable farming in a modern way

The Carbon Fields by Graham Harvey

What he says and talks about fits very well with Rare and Traditional breeds – what else is going to graze all this grass and produce sustainable meat without fertilisers?
