Kingsbridge Show 2008

In 2007 Kingsbridge show could not have sheep or cattle due to the Foot and Mouth restrictions, which was a shame as the show organisers had kindly arranged for a new category in the sheep section in which we could show rare and other traditional sheep - so this year we were delighted to go in numbers and show several sheep

We were particularly pleased that Mark and Liffy Robinson came along and showed for their very first time - I am pleased to say that they went home with some rosettes. As this was the first time that primitives had been judged there we were not surprised that the judge was not familiar with the breeds, nor how they should be judged differently from commercial sheep. Never the less it was a splendid thing to see four honed and other strange coloured sheep at the show - they got a lot of attention from visitors and local farmers alike

The show was more entertaining than usual as the ground was sodden and it rained over night, clear until noon, then poured down twice in the afternoon. As a consequent virtually EVERY vehicle had to be towed in and out by tractor!! Including four wheel drive vehicles like Land Rovers. The Dare Devil motor bike jump act had to be towed out by two tractors. In spite of every thing the show was reasonably well attended.

The twin Hebridean shearling were called upon at the last minute to appear in the Country tent - by the end of the show they were a little bored - but had been very friendly during the day
